Anna Paquin was born in Winnipeg and raised in Wellington. She became an actor in the role of Flora McGrath, a character in the romantic drama film The Piano. Paquin is a native of Winnipeg and grew up in Wellington she made her first appearance as Flora McGrath when she played her role in The Piano. Paquin was played as the title child in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre in 1996. In addition, she played the lead part in Fly Away Home, a film released that same year. Paquin appeared as Frankie Addams in a 1997 television film adaptation of Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding and also played a part as Queen of Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997). She portrayed teenagers on the screen in Hurlyburly (1998) She's All That (1999) as well as A Walk on the Moon (1999) as well as the character of a groupie Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
