Lee Roy Selmon's lifestyle is one of football scholarships, family involvement as well as community involvement. He is the youngest child from Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Selmon, who raised him on the family farm near Eufala. Also, he was one of three siblings who represented Oklahoma in football. Three of them were All-Americans. In 1973, Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the most effective lineman in the US. During his three-year tenure as Oklahoma's starting quarterback, the Sooners went 32-1-1 and won two national championships. Selmon was a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was awarded a scholarship for the third season in 1975. Selmon earned his master's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy's fourth volunteer service consisted of ten hours a week in volunteer work during college. In Tampa, he played for the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. Additionally, he started an entrepreneurial career. By 1988 he had become an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as a member of the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that, in 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of the ten outstanding young people across the nation. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 pounds during his time playing college football. He was a captain in 1975. led the team. In 1993, he was named associate director of the University of South Florida. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame recognized the player on the 28th of October, 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. In 1995, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon Sr. The presentation was made by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
